SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) is the 7th strain of coronavirus known to infect humans. It is spread predominantly through respiratory droplets.
The average incubation period is four to five days, with 75% of individuals developing symptoms between the 2nd and 7th day. Less than
one percent of individuals develop symptoms after 14-days. Traditional symptoms of COVID-19 include cough, fever, shortness of breath,
fatigue, body aches, headache, sputum, sore throat, and loss of taste or smell. Some individuals show no symptoms at all and are considered
an asymptomatic carrier. Those with underlying health issues, such as cardiovascular disease, pulmonary disease, diabetes, obesity, heart failure,
and persons over 75 tend to suffer more severe effects.
As of May 2020, there is currently no treatment or vaccine for COVID-19. Therefore, we must learn how to live with COVID-19 as we reopen businesses
and navigate the “new normal.”
